Strange things happen
I
just sat in the back of my class ignoring everybody around. My teacher Mrs
Kelly walked in with a tall skinny boy next to her.
„Good
morning students”, she said and smiled at us.
“Good
morning Mrs Kelly”, everyone replied.
I
was looking at the boy. He looked different, not like other boys. He had rather
fair skin, dark red hair and his eyes were ice-cold blue.
“Sit
in the back next to Denise”, Mrs Kelly pointed to my desk.
“Holy
schnitzel!” I shouted not controlling myself. Everyone was laughing at me, even
the boy.
“So...”
Mrs Kelly turned away from me to introduce him: “This is Liam. He’s our new
student.”
I was watching Liam walking to my desk. He sat
down smirking at me “Hey”, he said quietly.
“Hello”,
I giggled nervously.
“I’m
Liam.”
“I’m…“
“Denise.
I know”, he cut me off.
After
the class I saw Liam at the lockers holding some papers. He looked really puzzled
and kind of desperate – almost as he was asking for a help. He spotted me at
the other side of the hall.
“Hey!”
he shouted and jogged to me: “Could you please help me to find my locker? I’m a
bit confused by this.” He laughed as his hand ran through his hair. “Of course”,
I took his papers and went with him.
School
ended and I was already home. I just wanted to relax, to watch TV and to do
nothing with no one but suddenly I got a text from an unknown number: “What’s
up?”
I
had no idea who it was, so, I replied: “Who are you?”
It
took the stranger a while to reply. Finally, I got another text: “It’s me Liam.
Do you want to hang out?” I was asking myself where did he get my number,
although it was not as important. I was happy he made the effort. Maybe someone
at school gave it to him? Whatever!
“Yeah,
sure”, I replied.
In
a second I heard the doorbell. I went to look who it could be. It was Liam. How
did he get here so fast? How did he know where I live? I opened the door and he
was in his sweat pants. He just smiled and went inside and I asked him
eventually: “How did you get here so fast?”
“I
live just across the street”, he sat on the sofa.
“Shall
we watch a movie? A horror movie?” I nodded and sat next to him.
“Are
you scared?” he said grabbing my chin and turning my head to face his. He was
looking straight into my eyes. I giggled and smiled but he looked so serious.
He was staring at me like this for a while then he suddenly pushed me away.
“Are
you ok?” I asked a little scared.
“No”,
he said.
“What’s
wrong?” I went closer to him looking a little worried.
“So
you’re not scared of...” he stopped for a second, “...maybe I don’t know...” My
confusion sort of grew, but I tried to understand what he was on about: “Of
scary movies?”
He
looked at me again, straight into my eyes and suddenly his eyes were fully white
and his face was covered with veins. I freaked out. I moved away from him and
almost fell off the sofa. The veins were showing clearly through the skin. All
blue. His teeth were sharp, his face was all of a sudden messed up. I was just
staring at him. He smiled, but it wasn’t a smile, more of an evil grin. He
stood up and moved towards me. I ran to the kitchen. He followed me slowly. I
grabbed a knife to defend myself. It took him just a few seconds to disarm
me. “You won’t hurt me with that. But I
can hurt you”, he stabbed me in my hand and continued his scary monologue: “But
I can heal, too.” He placed his hands on mine and the pain went away. My hand
was only dirty from blood but there was no scar, no sign of an injury. I was
sweating, my heart was beating fast, way faster than… Wait a minute! There was
no heartbeat.
“Denise!
Denise! Wake up. You overslept. Get your ass out of the bed,” I heard my mom´s
voice. I woke up. I sat in my bed staring at my hand as I always do when I wake
up from the dream. But the boy in my dream is real. I see him in our classroom
every day. His name is Liam. His hair is dark red, his eyes ice-cold blue and
his skin rather fair. We are always looking at each other but we never talk.
Strange
things happen.
